What_is_SCOYF.pdf Regular activities coordinated by the SCOYF include: TIME FRAME ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION Sept/Oct Tri-Star Football Zone competition to determine Punt, Pass, and Kick winners. Hosts District Final/NFL Pepsi Sectional event with 150+ participants. Dec-Feb Academic Decathlon Host “practice scrimmage” here in Lincoln, help at Regional and State Finals for 50+ participating state high schools. December Holiday Basketball Assist LPS with Heartland Conference Holiday Girls and Boys BB tourneys by taking tickets and helping with supervision at two sites. March MIT Basketball Assist YMCA with Midwest Invitational Basketball Tourney involving nearly 400 boys and girls teams from grades 3-9. Help with ticket and clothing sales. April Zone Oratorical Help Lt. Governor conduct Zone Oratorical contest. Summer Fun Day in the Park Work with local neighborhood associations and service agencies to provide a fun, educational experience in a local park. Done in conjunction with Safety on Wheels program. June/July Challenger Baseball Baseball program for six teams of physically and mentally challenged youth ages 6-18 who play a 4-8 week season. July/August UN-RUN Fundraiser for the Childhood Cancer Campaign benefiting local families, area camps, and national pediatric cancer research at John Hopkins. Spring/Summer Tri-Star Sports Basketball, Soccer, and Baseball skills contests Annually Newspaper Spread A “centerfold” spread in the Neighborhood Extra highlighting the activities of each club, any special activities, and promoting membership. Community Awards Honor “lifetimes of serving youth” volunteers with Hartley Doane Mentoring and Bob Lund Sportsmanship Awards plus a Corporate Award.
