2009 Baseball Season
We invite you to showcase your business and support Lincoln’s youth with a banner at
the four-field Optimist Youth Sports Complex (OYSC). Activity continues to increase with
over 1,000 games and practices scheduled during the past 2008 season. OYSC is a project of
the 501(c)3 Star City Optimist Youth Foundation and is being developed with no tax dollars.
Conveniently located at 5300 S. Folsom less than a mile south of the YMCA’s Wright Fields in
SW Lincoln, the complex is designed to provide safe, quality sports fields for the community.
Local groups who have used the facility include the Junior Saltdogs; the Cyclones, Timberjacks,
Dodgers, Sox, and other Select Baseball Teams; Lincoln Pius X High School, UNL Club
Baseball, and the Hispanic and Lincoln Adult Baseball Leagues. In addition, OYSC has been
host to Coach Mike Anderson’s Husker Baseball Academy, the Cornhusker State Games, the
Triple Crown Sports tournament coinciding with the College World Series, and an annual Bike
Swap Meet.
We offer you a choice of three banner sizes, 4.5’ x 9.5’ or 4.5’ x 4.5’ on the fences
….entryway ($650/$400) or outfield ($500/$300)…. or 2’ x 2’on one of the wooden backstops
($250) Additional discounts are available when purchasing multiple banners. These banners
will be in full color, the larger two on dura-mesh material and the small one on vinyl. In addition
to your banner(s) being seen at the complex by an estimated 50,000 people per year between
April 1 and October 1, all advertisers will be acknowledged each month in the Foundation’s
newsletter to all Lincoln Optimist Club members and on the website at www.oysc.com.
During 2008, we celebrated our 5th Anniversary with a Celebrity/Optimist softball game.
The celebrity team included Chamber of Commerce President Wendy Birdsall, Journal-Star
